The 21-year-old Ottawa was the recipient of the winning goal in a 1-0 away victory over title rivals and defending champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1.

EvelyneViens was named Canada Soccer’s player of the month in the female category after her first two international goals for Canada.

David has been one of the key men for Lille who are on the verge of winning an unlikely league title at the expense of favourites PSG. He missed three games with the ankle ligament injury sustained during the away league game against PSG at the Parc des Princes.

The Canada international came back from the injury to score one of the goals as Lille came from two goals down to beat Lyon 3-2 away from home. Lille were able to push Lyon out of the title race with the impressive win.

Lyon had taken the lead through Algerian international Islam Slimani on 20 minutes before Lille defender Jose Fonte put through his own net 15 minutes later to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Turkish international Burak Yilmaz pulled one back on the stroke of half-time to start the fightback for Lille.

Lille went on to score two goals in the second half to win the game. David scored the equaliser for Lille on the hour mark before Yilmaz scored the winning goal five minutes from time to secure the three points at stake.

Yilmaz and David have been the strike partnership for Lille for the majority of the French Ligue 1 season. Yilmaz has 13 goals and five assists in 25 league games this season, while David has 11 goals and two assists in 34 games in the league.
